MLP X Sonic: Teamwork is Magic Prologue

Sonic knocked on the door to Tails’s lab, the two-tailed fox having called the blue hedgehog over to his place to show him some sort of experiment.

“Yo, Tails, how’s it hangin’, bud,” Sonic asked as his friend opened the door, the fox’s inventor goggles hanging around his neck.

“Sonic! Glad you could make it! I just finished up working on my latest invention,” Tails noted, as he walked Sonic inside, “So, do you remember when we teamed up with Mario to save both the Mushroom Kingdom and Mobius from destruction?”

“Yeah… you kinda don’t have to bring that stuff up… considering I was kinda the one who caused that to happen in the first place,” Sonic said, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. He didn’t want to remember the time that he nearly destroyed his world when he used the seven Chaos Emeralds to do a massive Chaos Control, even if he had met one of his greatest friends and rivals that way.

“Sonic, don’t beat yourself up over that. You didn’t know what would happen. Plus, if you hadn’t, I wouldn’t have had the inspiration to make this baby!” Tails responded, before showing Sonic what looked like a portal-like machine with six slots on the rim, which looked like they fit Chaos Emeralds in it.

“Whoa! Is that what I think it is?” Sonic asked.

“Sure is. This device will be able to use the hidden abilities of Chaos Control to allow a stable mode of travelling through dimensions,” Tails explained.

“That’s amazing! I might get to see Mario again!” Sonic exclaimed excitedly, “But… hold on a sec, Tails. Why is it there’s six slots for Chaos Emeralds, and not seven?”

“Well, you see, I was only able to fit six Chaos Emeralds on the control base. They have to be evenly spaced apart for the machine to work. Plus, I have a feeling all seven emeralds might overload the system. You brought those two Chaos Emeralds I asked you to bring with you, right?”

“Right here, buddy!” Sonic replied, showing two gems, one a red color and the other cyan, as he handed them to Tails.

“Thanks. I only was able to collect four from when they last scattered, so I needed the two you had at your house to get the power necessary for interdimensional travel.”

“As always, Tails, you sure know how to think ahead,” Sonic winked.

“Thanks. Anyways, I’ll just place the Chaos Emeralds in the slots, and we’ll be all set to go,” Tail said, as he placed the Emeralds in the slot, causing them to glow brightly each time they were inserted in.

“Oh man, I can’t wait to see what other worlds are out there! Maybe there are more heroes for me to meet. Considering how great Mario and I got along when we went to the Mushroom Kingdom, I bet I can make new friends in other worlds.”

“Don’t get too ahead of yourself, Sonic. Remember, it needs to world first, too. Plus, even if Mario and his people weren’t afraid of us, I don’t think other worlds have seen creatures like us before. We’d better be careful,” Tails warned, causing Sonic to roll his eyes.

“You worry too much, Tails. Now, let’s fire it up!” Sonic shouted.

“Okay, let’s do it!” Tails responded, heading over to the controls and turning on the portal, which created a stable warp, which reminded Sonic of all the ring gates that led to Special Zones.

“Alright! It worked. A genius invention as always, my Vulpine friend,” Sonic stated, smiling.

Tails chuckled a bit. “Thanks, Sonic. Now, let’s get ready to head out. I packed us some supplies just in case, so keep this bag with you,” Tails noted, throwing a travel bag over to Sonic as he caught it in one hand, slinging it over his back.

“Alright! Let’s do this! ...wait, how are we gonna get back?” Sonic asked.

“Simple. I’ll just use the seventh Chaos Emerald in this nifty little device I made, called a Chaos Locator. It uses tachyon energy to send a beacon to the portal and open a gate from wherever we are to my lab.”

“Man, you think of everything, don’tcha, Tails,” Sonic smirked, “Though, shouldn’t we bring the others with us? No doubt they’d wanna see Mario and the others.”

“We’re gonna start off with a random dimension to test, and then we’ll try and locate Mario’s home dimension,” Tails responded, as he put on his goggles, “Ready to go?”

“I was born ready!” Sonic responded, as the two were about to jump in. However, they suddenly heard a crash come from the roof, as they looked to see a familiar flying machine.

“Dr. Eggman!” Sonic and Tails gasped, as the evil scientist sneered behind his big nose at the two of them.

“Well well, if it isn’t Sonic and Tails! I heard you were making a machine to cross dimensions,” Eggman stated.

“Yeah, maybe we are, but you’re not gonna use it!” Sonic shouted.

“Oh really? I think I am, and I’m going to travel across the dimensions and recruit all the villains of the multiverse into a league of Evil! I think I’ll start out by seeing my old friend Bowser. I hope that he’s doing well. Bet that plumber’s still giving him trouble…”

“We won’t let you get away with this, Egghead!” Sonic shouted, spinning into a ball and performing a spin dash right into Dr. Eggman, who shot out a laser towards Sonic, but it missed, bouncing off the wall and hitting Tails’s Chaos Locator out of his hands, falling toward the side of the portal and shattering, the Chaos Emerald making contact with the energy field.

“NO!!!” Tails screamed, as the portal suddenly exploded, created a wormhole that began to suck everything in, including the Chaos Emeralds!

“Eggman, look at what you’ve done!” Sonic shouted, holding onto a steel support for dear life as Eggman tried to get away from the vortex.

“Nononono!!!” Eggman shouted, before his Eggmobile lost power, causing him to fall into the void, “Why me~?!?”

“Sonic! I can’t hold on!!” Tails shouted, holding on for dear life, as he hung onto the console.

“Hang on, Tails, I’m coming!” Sonic responded, trying to reach for Tails.

“S-Sonic, help! I’m slipping!” Tails pleaded desperately, his fingers slipping from the console before he lost his grip, falling into the abyss, “SONICCCCCCCC~!”

“TAILS! NO!!!” Sonic screamed, tears flowing from his eyes as he saw his best friend fall into the wormhole. He quickly wiped them away, as he knew what he had to do…

“Don’t worry, buddy. I’m comin’ to save ya!”

With that, Sonic did a spin dash off the support straight into the vortex, as it closed behind him. As he sped through, it looked as if Time and Space was being ripped apart around him, as he travelled through the dimensions.

Meanwhile, in the faraway land known as Equestria, a young cyan pegasus with a rainbow mane was zooming through the skies, clouds disintegrating as she flew through them.

“Aw yeah! Watch out, everypony! Ponyville’s number 1 Flyer coming through!” the pony stated arrogantly, as she flew faster and faster, bursting through all kinds of clouds to keep the skies clear. After a while, however, she came to a quick stop atop a hillside, before looking up and marvelling at her work.

“Well, that was pretty awesome. Then again, it’s something that only I could handle so quickly,” the pegasus noted. However, she was surprised to see a massive flash of light, followed by a blue shockwave of color ripping through the sky, as some sort of object fell out of the sky and into a meadow below, making the ground shake as it landed.

“Huh? What was that?” the blue pony wondered aloud, as she flew toward the impact crater, “It looked like a Sonic Rainboom… or more like a Sonic Blueboom…” As she finally reached the crash site, she looked to see a strange blue spiky creature in the crater.

“Hey, hey are you alright?” the pony asked, as the creature slowly opened his eyes.

“Ugh… what happened? All I can remember is rushing out to save Tails, and then…” Sonic muttered before looking up to see… “Whoa! What are you? I normally don’t see Mobians that walk on 4 legs… or have chicken wings on their backs…”

“Hey! I am a pegasus, not a chicken!” the pony responded, insulted by Sonic’s comment, “Who are you, anyways?”

“I’m Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.” Sonic stated, smirking a little, “Sorry about the chicken comment. I didn’t know.”

“Yeah… well, I can forgive you this once. Name’s Rainbow Dash,” the pony stated, holding out a hoof toward Sonic.

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Rainbow Dash,” Sonic responded, shaking her hoof with his hand.

“Why are you wearing those weird white things on your claws?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Claws? These are hands,” Sonic responded.

“Oh… sorry, we don’t see a lot of hands around here. Mostly claws,” she apologized.

“It’s cool. So, Dash, by any chance have you seen a yellow fox with two tails and wearing goggles?” Sonic asked.

“Hmmm… nope, never heard of a creature like that. Maybe my friend Twilight will be able to help you. She knows a lot about things,” Dash responded.

“She may not know about me, considering where I come from…” Sonic stated under his breath, before he walked off with Rainbow Dash to find her friend so she can help find Tails.

Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman’s Eggmobile had landed in a dark forest, which seemed to be pretty menacing as he tried to work his flying machine.

“Darn! It’s not working!!” Eggman growled, kicking the machine, “Stupid thing! Guess I’ll walk. Where is this place, anyways?”

“Mmm hmm hmm…” he heard a voice chuckle, as he looked around to hear where the voice was coming from, “It seems you have come a long way, and your heart is black as night. I believe we may be able to help each other…”

“Wh-who are you?! Show yourself!” Eggman shouted, very scared.

“Help me. Help me in getting revenge on the Ponies who imprisoned me in shadow and then tried to destroy me. Help me take back what is rightfully mine!”

“I-I’m not afraid of you! You can’t get to me!” Eggman shouted.

“Oh, not afraid, huh? You foolish creature, I’m the one you should fear most,” the voice laughed, as the dark shadows began to take shape, revealing a black stallion with a black and red unicorn horn and regal metal armor on with a red cape, “I… am Sombra!”
